Overcoming Ping Mikrotik: Invalid Value for Argument Address

Overcoming Ping Mikrotik: Invalid Value for Argument Address

How to solve the Mikrotik ping problem that produces an error message:

invalid value for argument address :
invalid value of mac-address, mac address required
invalid value for argument ipv6-address
while resolving ip-address : could not get answer from dns server

Error messages like the one above can appear when there is an error in the dns configuration, ip-address, and mac-address that we are not aware of suddenly occurs. This often happens when we use the DHCP Client configuration to connect to internet resources.

Solution to Overcome Ping Mikrotik: Invalid value for argument address is very easy. Here I outline the steps:

1. Login to Mikrotik via Winbox

2. Check ping to gateway and google.com

3. Check DHCP Client configuration:

Go to IP –> DHCP Client –> Click the Release button.
Then the old IP address configuration will be deleted and Mikrotik will ask for the latest IP Address configuration to the internet source.

Good luck and good luck 🙂
