Learn Mikrotik: How to Access Mikrotik – Mikrotik devices can be accessed using various media, and the way to access Mikrotik is also different. There are 4 ways to access the MikroTik Router, including:
1. Via Console/Command Mikrotik
We can access Mikrotik directly via console/shell or remote access using PUTTY (www.putty.nl). All you have to do is enter the Mikrotik IP address into the PuTTY Host Name column.
Command Tips: “Take advantage of auto complete” (similar to bash auto complete on linux) Press the TAB Key on the keyboard to find out / complete the next list of commands. So we don’t need to type a long command again, just type the beginning of the command, then press TAB-TAB then the shell will automatically display / complete the list of commands that we mean.
Download Putty here.
Just type Ip Fir >>> then press TAB >>> then the shell will automatically complete the Ip Firewall. Then type “..” (colon) to return to the sub menu above it, and type “/” to return to the root menu.
2. Via Web Browser
Mikrotik can also be accessed via web/port 80 on the browser. Example: type in our proxy IP browser: 192.168.1.10.
3. Via Winbox
Mikrotik can also be accessed / remotely using the winbox tool (a small utility on windows that is very practical and quite easy to use). Winbox is the most popular tool for remote Mikrotik because besides being easy it can also display menus on Mikrotik in a GUI. The initial display activates Winbox like this:
Winbox can detect Mikrotik that has been installed as long as it is still in the same network, namely by detecting the MAC address of the Ethernet installed on the Mikrotik. To be able to access Mikrotik using Winbox, you can use the Mikrotik IP Address or MAC Address.
Download Winbox here.
4. Via Telnet
We can remote MikroTik using telnet through the application program “command prompt” (cmd) which is on windows whose Telnet feature has been activated. However, the use of telnet is not recommended in the network because of its security concerns.
Those were the 4 ways to access Mikrotik. For those of you who are learning Mikrotik, you can try each of the methods above for practice. Good luck 🙂
