Last Updated on November 17, 2022

If you are looking for a 60% mechanical keyboard as an alternative and a cheap version for the Anne Pro 2, then the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is the right choice for you.

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is a 60% mechanical keyboard that has dedicated arrow keys, the supporting software is quite good. Blitzwolf BW-KB1 uses Gateron Brown switches while other cheap mechanical keyboards prefer to use Otemu, Blitzwolf BW-KB1 does something different by using Switch from Gateron. Let’s unpack, is the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 worthy for you to have?

Blitzwolf BW-KB1

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is a 60% mechanical keyboard at a very affordable price. This compact mechanical keyboard has a variety of features that are quite attractive at this low price. Bright and adjustable RGB Backlight, has dedicated arrow keys which is one of the rare features in a 60% mechanical keyboard.

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is also supported by pretty good software that can help you customize the RGB Led on this keyboard. RGB on this keyboard has many types of animations that you can change through the keyboard function.

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is a mechanical keyboard that supports Bluetooth connectivity. While all bluethooth mechanical keyboards are only capable of connecting with a maximum of 3 other devices, the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is able to connect with 5 other devices at the same time. The battery on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is very durable, with a 1900mAh battery capacity on this keyboard that can last up to 42 hours, it will be even longer if the RGB is turned off. Nice!

You don’t get much when you open the purchase box for the Blitzwolf BW-KB1, you get standard equipment such as a keycap puller, a removable USB type C, and a manual.

What’s special is that you get a Brided USB Type C which in my opinion is quite high quality and very luxurious.

Design And Build Quality

Design And Build Quality
Design And Build Quality

For a 60% mechanical keyboard at a very affordable price, the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a good design with a fairly solid build quality. All the body is made of plastic and there are still some parts that if you press a little hard it will feel flexible. The aluminum plate placed on top of the PBC makes the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 quite rigid.

As you can see in the picture, the keycaps on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 look floating and slightly higher due to the ABS OEM profile keycaps which I don’t think are very good, but they are enough for everyday typing.

You get support legs to choose the angle of height with 6 rubber feet. Yes, you get 6 rubber feet, because the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is quite light, so it doesn’t move when you use it, the installation of 6 rubber feet will give a slightly stronger grip.

Decent ABS Plastic Keycaps

The Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is equipped with slightly more ABS keycaps than the other 60% mechanical keyboard because you get 4 dedicated Arrow Keys which are quite rare in this layout.

The keycaps feel a bit slick to use, but are good enough for gaming or typing. We strongly recommend you to use a keycap set made of PBT which is stronger, durable and very comfortable for typing.

But the white ABS keycaps on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 are very suitable for very bright RGB LEDs, this helps the light distribution very evenly, especially Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a lot of RGB animation options, so I think these ABS keycaps are pretty good.

If you want to change the keycaps pay attention to the right shift key on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1, because its size is 1.75u. Make sure you buy a keycaps set that provides a 1.75u right shift keycap so you can install it.

For layer functions you will use FN and ALT+FN a lot. You only need to see the icon on the keycaps to use the key functions. Overall these ABS keycaps are cheap but enough to meet your needs for gaming or typing.

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 Comes With Gateron Switch

While other cheap mechanical keyboards prefer to use switches from Otemu which are the cheapest switches, the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 does something different by embedding a Switch from Gateron which is usually used on upper-middle-class mechanical keyboards, for example on mechanical keyboard products from Kyechron.

This is a very interesting thing. In our unit we use Gateron Brown which in our opinion fits perfectly with this Blitzwolf BW-KB1. If you want to replace the switch, we highly recommend you to replace it with another switch such as Kailh BOX Burnt Orange or White, I’m sure it will be very suitable for the Blitzwolf BW-KB1.

Unfortunately to replace the switch you have to do additional work, because the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 does not have a Hot-Swappable switch feature that allows you to replace the switch without having to solder it. Overall Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is very compatible with Gateron Brown, you can also choose Gateron Red and Blue when buying it, but we recommend choosing Gateron Brown switch because this switch is very comfortable to use and has minimal noise.

Reliable Stabilizer

Reliable Stabilizer

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a stabilizer that is very reliable, for a mechanical keyboard at an affordable price, Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a stabilizer that is very good at maintaining the balance of the keys, especially on the spacebar keys.

The damping on the buttons that use the stabilizer is very good, the sound produced is quieter compared to other buttons that don’t have a stabilizer. The stabilizer on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 uses a Cherry style stabilizer, so it will be very easy to modify or lubricate it.

Overall, the stabilizer on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a very good performance, the buttons are very well muffled and don’t scale, the stabilizer keeps the balance of the buttons so they don’t vibrate and don’t sway when pressed.

63 Keys Layout With Dedicated Arrow Keys

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is equipped with a total of 63 keys with the addition of dedicated Arrow Keys which are rare keys on a 60% mechanical keyboard. The advantage is that you don’t have to bother pressing the FN button to use the 4 buttons with arrows according to the cardinal directions.

Great RGB LEDs and Lots of Animations

Great RGB LEDs and Lots of Animations

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has a very nice RGB LED with a wide selection of animations that you can customize with the keyboard function keys or with software. RGB is very well lit on almost every side of the button and the brightness is adjustable and you have 20 animation options that you can change using FN+Backslash. Meanwhile, to adjust the brightness you can use the FN + Right or Left Bracket keys.

The picture above is a switch to turn on and off bluetooth on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 which is at the bottom of the case. In addition to being able to connect to your computer via its built-in brided USB Type C, you can also connect to other devices such as Android, iPhone, or iPad.

The greatest thing about the Bluetooth connectivity of the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is that this compact mechanical keyboard can be connected to 5 devices at the same time, while other Bluetooth mechanical keyboards can only be connected to 3 devices, the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is able to do more things, namely connecting with 5 devices. Great!

The battery life of the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is quite impressive, the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 can last up to 42 hours after being fully charged. It will take even longer if RGB is turned off when you use a bluetooth connection.

Overall, the connectivity options on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 are very good and reliable.

Great Support Software

Great Support Software
Great Support Software

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 gets support software that is quite responsive with navigation menus that are easy to understand and use. You can customize the RGB LED on the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 to your liking. Disabling RGB individually on certain buttons which I think is pretty cool.

But even though Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is supported by software to customize RGB LED, you can’t remap the layer function. Overall the support software is very reliable although it can’t be useful to remap layer functions.

How about the price and variant of Blitzwolf BW-KB1?

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 is available in two color variants, namely Blitzwolf BW-KB1 black and Blitzwolf BW-KB1 white. For the choice of switch types, you can choose Gateron Brown, Gateron Blue, and Gateron Red. We highly recommend that you buy the Blitzwolf BW-KB1 with Gateron Brown because it’s pretty good for gaming or typing. Both Blitzwolf BW-KB1 variants are sold at the same price of US$52.99 at Banggood.

Blitzwolf BW-KB1 has dedicated Arrow Keys, great RGB, very reliable support software makes Blitzwolf BW-KB1 very worthy of your consideration.
